P Bengali Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee’s health condition showed a slight improvement on Friday, but it is still serious, doctors said.
Chatterjee underwent second dialysis at Premier Belle vs Clinic in Kolkata on Thursday. Chatterjee has been on ventilator support since Monday after a medical team at the hospital described his renal function as ‘not so good’.
There was no gastrointestinal bleeding from there on Friday, according to hospital sources. However, his hemoglobin went down for a while and the doctors had to go for two units of blood therapy.
The 85-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient has now been admitted to the ICU for about 20 days. The main problem for Chatterjee was Kovid-19 encephalopathy, hospital sources said.
Its platelet counts are stable for that time and platelet transfusion has not occurred. The count is slowly increasing and so is the temperature. The antibiotic is also working on her body, doctors said.
Chatterjee tested positive for coronavirus on October-October and was admitted to the hospital the next morning.
He was shooting a documentary called ‘Abhijan’ directed by actor Parambrat Chattopadhyay. He last took part in the shooting on October 1 at Bharatlaxmi Studios. The next shooting was scheduled for October 7.
