Rahul Bose, Swastik Mukherjee, Parambrat Chattopadhyay mourn the death of Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee


Veteran Bengali actor and Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner Soumitra Chatterjee, best known for his collaboration with Oscar-winning film director Satyajit Ray, passed away in Kolkata on November 15 at the age of 85. His social media accounts, actors and filmmakers mourned his tragic and unfortunate demise. Hardik’s note was written by Rahul Bose, Swastik Mukherjee, Parambrat Chattopadhyay and many others.

Sharing a picture of the legendary actor smoking, Bose had to write this and express his thoughts – “I grew up watching his films day by day. So working with him at # 15 Park Avenue was surreal. He answered all my questions about how he was. The way it was. Work with #SatyaJitare with generosity and warmth. It’s good luck, Soumitrada. Stay calm. ” [SIC]

Parambrata Chattopadhyay shared a picture of the actor and again wrote a long note on his Instagram account saying this – “Some people considered him a teacher, some considered him a guru and so I too … He was my own, my own” Udayan Master “. “But above all, they were dear. Friends! We’ve been fond of each other for the last two and a half years, not that there aren’t small differences now and then, as happens between friends.” [SIC] Take a look here:

When National Award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar met him during the 54th National Awards Film Festival, he shared a picture with the veteran actor and this was to share the same, take a look at his tweet here:

Another actor named Payal Ghosh wrote, “The end of the iconic era. The Bengali film industry has lost its biggest living legend today. Give peace of mind to his soul. RIP # Soumit Chatterjee.” [SIC]

Chatterjee made his debut In the 1959 film world with Reni Apur Sansar (Appuni Duniya). This was the third part of Renee’s famous Apu trilogy. She played the lead role of ‘Apu’ opposite veteran actor Sharmila Tagore.

He later starred in four Ray films, including Charulata, Abhijan, Arniyar Din Ratri, Ashani Sanket, Sonar Kela, Jai Baba Felunath, Ghar Bayre and Ganashatru.

Chatterjee also worked In his film Akash Kusum closely with another famous Bengali director Mrinal Sen.

Her best performance with Tanuja in the film ‘Teen Bhuvner Parey’ and in the rocking song ‘Jiboni Ki Pabone’ where she was seen doing twist dance steps is still considered as her best performance.

He was often compared to Bengali megastar Uttam Kumar. The two actors, who are known for their individual acting abilities, starred together in Tapan Sinha’s Zinder Bandi and the rest is history.
