He said the doctors had really tried to “animate” Soumitra to get him in better condition. “We are very sorry to hear that he is not responding.”
The 85-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Belle View Hospital in Kolkata for about 40 days and his level of consciousness has dropped significantly since Friday. Soumitra Chatterjee tested positive for coronavirus on October-October and was admitted to the hospital the next morning.
He was shooting a documentary called “Abhijan” directed by actor Parambrat Chattopadhyay. The last time he was present was on the shooting floor at Bharatlaxmi Studio. On October 1, the next schedule of shooting was set for October 7.
