Anton Verghese, lead man of the Lizo Jose Palisery-directed adventure, says it was a prank when he said the first few congratulatory calls came. The excited actor says, “I realized that we made this cut only when we started getting a lot of getting lbs. I never even imagined in my wildest dreams that our film would be a contender in sc sc. We have blindly followed Lijo’s vision.” Says the enthusiastic actor.
Jallikattu revolves around a designated buffalo who frees himself on the eve of his scheduled slaughter and jokes in Kerala. It was selected from 27 films including Chaitanya Tamaha’s much acclaimed disciple, Gulabo Sitabo, Chhapak, e Bay Lay Leo Oo and Chintu Ka Birthday.
Rahul Ravel
Jury Board Chairman Rahul Ravel praised the film for its technical excellence as much as it has to tell a powerful story. “The movie is of Indian origin. The jury found it very appealing and it is confident [about its prospects]. We hope he makes it to the top nine [nominations] At least. “What is characteristic of a prudent jury, Ravel added, is that the 14-member committee consistently discussed the best they could.” We discussed and argued over the films, and at the end of the day, the majority decided [prevailed]”
