Akshay Kumar has filed a defamation suit against YouTuber, who made a name for himself by spreading fake news.
Akshay has filed a Rs 500 crore defamation suit against Rashid Siddiqui alias UP Tuber, who had put forward his name in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Siddiqui was earlier arrested for spreading fake news in the incident and for naming Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Minister Aditya Thackeray.
YouTube used digital media to allegedly mislead people and spread fake news about many celebrities.
He had named Akshay in his video on several occasions and made various allegations. In one instance, Siddiqui claimed that Akshay was unhappy with Sushant getting big films like “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”, and alleged that the actor had “secret meetings” with Aditya Thackeray and Mumbai Police.
There are reports that Siddiqui, a civil engineer from Bihar, has been charged with defamation, public misconduct and intentional insult.
Siddiqui also linked Akshay to actor Sushant’s girlfriend actress Riya Chakraborty at the end, claiming that the actor had helped Riya escape to Canada.
It is believed that Siddiqui earned about Rs 15 lakh in a span of four months and his subscribers also increased from 2 lakh to over 3 lakh.
Sushant was found dead in his apartment on June 14. Mumbai Police initially investigated the case and revealed that the actor had committed suicide. The case has since been taken up by the CBI, which has joined the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Enforcement Directorate in the investigation.
