P Bengali Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee is in critical condition and will undergo two or three episodes of dialysis on Wednesday to cope with her kidney function, doctors at Kolkata’s Belle vs. Hospital said.
Chatterjee has been on ventilator support since Monday as a team of medical experts at the hospital described his renal function as ‘not so good’.
“The team of nephrologists has decided that 2-3 episodes of dialysis will help reduce the levels of urea and creatinine in his body which should also improve consciousness. We will also try to restore the actor’s urine output. Hopefully the dialysis will be” short term, ” Said Dr. Arindam Kare, who heads the medical team for Chatterjee at the hospital.
The 85-year-old Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Belle vs Hospital, Kolkata for the last 19 days and his level of consciousness has dropped significantly in the last few days.
Her hemoglobin count also came down just a few days ago when her urea level in her body rose. The main problem for Chatterjee was Kovid-19 encephalopathy, hospital sources said.
It was found that there was no gastrointestinal bleeding on Wednesday. Oxygen support was also about 40-50 per cent, which is unchanged again from Tuesday.
“The ventilator parameters are good. We’ve been able to detect end-to-end bacteria and organisms that are producing secondary infections, and we’ve introduced antibiotics in the sensitivity report.”
Chatterjee was fighting with Kovid-19. On 5 October he was tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to the hospital the next morning.
He was shooting a documentary called ‘Abhijan’ directed by actor Parambrat Chattopadhyay. The last time Bharatalakshmi attended the studio was on the shooting floor on October 1st.
The next shooting was scheduled for October 7.
